G-Mail account shut down temporarily for one week while on vacation. Do messages get stored until opened ?

My girlfriend is on vacation and her e-mail is shut down?? for a week. I don't know what she means. She uses?

She uses her personal e- mail address at work. She said that her e- mail is "shut down" for a week. I've never heard the term before. She did not close her G-Mail account, the account just can't be accessed (I don't understand). What I am wondering is will she be able to read e- mails that have been sent to her e- mail address during this one - week period. Do they get stored, to be read when she opens the account again ?

What she means is that Gmail can not be accessed at the moment because of a server error.

This normally happens because Gmail is under maintenance (nothing to be worried about).

Yes. All the emails sent, or that where all ready there in your girlfriend email address will be saved on Gmail's server. So that when she can access Gmail again, everything will be just as she left it.

This normally lasts for a few hours, then Gmail is back up again.

Hope it helps
Reply:Yes, her wording are confusing. It should read either disable, cancel, deact account. "shut down doesn't make sense. I believe this is a simple error or issue, Have her call HD and get resolution, She should be able have restore her all emails once resolved.
Reply:I use gmail, and there is a setting you can use , to put it on a vacation status. She had to change the setting herself. Unless, someone knows her password and did it for her, without her knowing. she can change it back . If this happened, then she needs to change her password.
